I hand-stitched this pendant with strong, archival quality bead thread, which makes this an heirloom-quality piece of jewellery. No glue guns here!
This pendant is a little more expensive than some of my others because of the quality and rarity of the Scenic Jasper.
What is Scenic Jasper? Scenic Jasper, also known as Picture Jasper, is a unique form of jasper that holds elaborate images of landscapes inside each stone, often looking like mountains, canyons, and trees. It takes a skilled lapidary artist to cut the stone and bring out the pictures within. Indigenous tribes believe scenic jaspers contain hidden messages from the past and spiritual guides.
This Scenic Jasper cabochon is high grade, ethically sourced, and hand cut by a professional UK lapidary artist (Designer Cabochons). It is Peru Blanket Jasper, has a matte look, and was new on the market in recent years.
The colouring is natural, not dyed. The image that naturally occurs in this stone resembles a dry red prairie with dark trees on the horizon.
The cabochon is stitched onto a black, faux leather foundation fabric with bead embroidery techniques and high-quality Japanese glass seed beads.
An elaborate beaded fringe surrounds the cabochon and includes Japanese glass seed beads, Czech glass dagger beads, genuine copper tube beads, genuine Red Coral, Sunstone beads (glass/copper composite), and genuine gemstone beads of Hematite, Turquoise, Topaz, and Black Onyx,
Genuine Turquoise and Black Obsidian beads connect the Scenic Jasper to the bead-woven bail.
The vermillion red cord is made from cork from Portugal, has a cotton inner core and cotton thread, and is totally vegan. It feels and looks remarkably like leather and is strong and water resistant. The cord is 21.5 inches (55cm) long, plus a 3-inch stainless steel, hypoallergenic extension chain.
The lobster clasp is stainless steel and hypoallergenic.
The pendant was hand-beaded and hand-stitched by me.
The black backing is faux leather.
