Loom: Saori CH60
Warp: Blue ready-made Saori warp, 200 threads
Weft: various cottons, silks, and metal threads
I didn’t start out intending to weave a tree under a stormy sky. I just started weaving to use up the remainder of some blue ready-made warp, and I wanted to weave in just blues and whites.
I wanted to explore some weft techniques like inlay and triple clasped weft.
After doing a section of the blue and white triple clasped weft, I realized it was looking like a tree, so I finished it off by bringing it to a point so it looked like a pine tree (sort of!).
And, of course, you always have to put some sky above a tree.
I’m thinking of adding a moon to the sky by adding some Boro patchwork combined with Sashiko stitching.
